Busticated Toe

So, yesterday morning, in a fit of cat-induced rage, I busted my pinky toe. Mr. T, one of our cats, has developed a bad habit of clawing the rug in our bedroom around 5 am. So, last night, after a half hour of playing 'scratch scratch squirt yell,' I decided it was Time Out Time for Mr. T. I got out of bed, chased him for a bit in an attempt to catch and place him in the bathroom 'jail.' I tripped. As I attempted to catch myself, I kicked the living shit out of our kitchen table. The table sustained no injuries...I dislocated and fractured my left pinky toe. Table one; Shaun zero.

After a fun 5 hours in the ER at Mass General, I was released with a 'reduced' toe, buddy taped to the 'this one had none' toe, that was completely numb thanks to the lidocaine shot they gave me before they reduced it. Oh, and a prescription for vicodan for the pain...that set in about an hour later. That stuff is no fun. First off, it doesn't help the pain; it just makes me not care so much about it. Second, it makes me nod off within seconds of reclining near 45 degrees. Finally, it's ruined my appetite all day...and I only took one before bed last night! Why couldn't they have just given me a prescription for lidocaine instead?

On the upside, I got a great 'player' limp going on...
