So, yesterday morning, in a fit of cat-induced rage, I busted my pinky toe. Mr. T, one of our cats, has developed a bad habit of clawing the rug in our bedroom around 5 am. So, last night, after a half hour of playing 'scratch scratch squirt yell,' I decided it was Time Out Time for Mr. T. I got out of bed, chased him for a bit in an attempt to catch and place him in the bathroom 'jail.' I tripped. As I attempted to catch myself, I kicked the living shit out of our kitchen table. The table sustained no injuries...I dislocated and fractured my left pinky toe. Table one; Shaun zero.
After a fun 5 hours in the ER at Mass General, I was released with a 'reduced' toe, buddy taped to the 'this one had none' toe, that was completely numb thanks to the lidocaine shot they gave me before they reduced it. Oh, and a prescription for vicodan for the pain...that set in about an hour later. That stuff is no fun. First off, it doesn't help the pain; it just makes me not care so much about it. Second, it makes me nod off within seconds of reclining near 45 degrees. Finally, it's ruined my appetite all day...and I only took one before bed last night! Why couldn't they have just given me a prescription for lidocaine instead?
On the upside, I got a great 'player' limp going on...

rolled into the semis
So, my partner and I rolled our way into the semis of the trial competition we're in tonight. By the skin of our teeth. I said early on that I was only in it for the prize money and I didn't care about the 'resume' building...hell, I'm not gonna be a trial lawyer...but now that we're down to just 4 teams, I'm sort of into it. It's a lot of work and incredibly nerve-racking but it feels good to have made it this far.
Hooray us...we're going up against some tough mofos...Suffolk has a helluva reputation for putting out some kick-ass trial lawyers, after all...

Music, etc...
So, the good news is that I recently discovered tourfilter.com, which is really friggin' awesome (if you live in a city they cover). The bad news is that I'm going to have to cut back on drinking if I'm going to be able to afford going to all the upcoming shows I want to see. That's tough bargaining when you're a boozehound like me...
I saw Black Rebel Motorcycle Club last week at The Orpheum. If you haven't heard them, get online and download their self-titled album, Take Them On, Howl and Baby 81...IMMEDIATELY. No excuses. They're amazing. And B and I are going to see Rodrigo y Gabriela next week...I can't wait. Hopefully I don't make it to the finals of the trial competition next week so I don't have to go to the show with a suit on (Sorry Pete).
When will I write again? We'll see...it'll be random, I'm guessing. And it'll probably include cute cat pictures...
